Hello, I’m Jacqueline
I’m a flower lover and former wedding cake maker turned award-winning sugarcraft and cake decorating artist, and the Founder/Creative Director of PETALSWEET. After dabbling in pastry and falling in love with sugar flowers as a hobby, I studied the art form with some of the best artists in the business. I then began my own professional journey in cake, while working to make sugar flowers in a fresh, modern style, and to make them achievable for everyone who wanted to make them.
Launched in 2005, PETALSWEET became one of Southern California’s best kept secrets, specializing in custom wedding cakes decorated with beautiful and lush sugar flower arrangements. Known for clean, delicate designs and fresh color palettes, PETALSWEET cakes were enjoyed by fabulous couples throughout San Diego, Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area.
After sharing my signature sugar flower techniques with a few colleagues, I discovered my love for teaching sugarcraft and helping others learn how to make beautiful cakes. I focused more of my business on providing learning opportunities for both professional cake decorators and enthusiasts by teaching hands-on workshops, creating the first online sugarcraft courses at Craftsy, and authoring two best-selling sugar flower books!
Today, I’m honored to teach my modern style of sugar flowers, wafer paper flowers, and cake design to students throughout the US, Europe, Australia and Asia. Classes focus on a good foundation in method and technique, but mixed with the magic of your own personal artistry. With a bit of repetition and thoughtfully guided practice, I know you will find more joy in the creative process and develop the confidence to produce beautiful new flowers on your own.
Happy flower making!
